The right tool for pier and beam homes, additions, and tight access work.
Helical piers are steel shafts with a helix shaped plate welded near the tip. We screw them into the ground with a hydraulic torque motor, exactly like driving a giant wood screw. The deeper we go, the more torque it takes. We read that torque to know when we've hit load bearing soil. Then we attach a bracket to your foundation and transfer the weight onto the pier.
Helical pier installs typically run $1,200 to $2,200 per pier in this market. Most jobs use 6 to 12 piers. So a real Tulsa job lands between $7,500 and $22,000 depending on the home, soil depth, and access.
The driveway question we get all the time: helical piers are not for driveways. For sunken slabs use concrete leveling. Different tool, different price, faster job.
Helical piers screw into the ground with a torque motor. Push piers get hammered in hydraulically. Helicals work better for lighter loads and additions. Push piers work better for heavy slab houses with deeper bedrock.
For most pier and beam homes, additions, decks, and even some slab homes, yes. The torque required to install gives us a real time read of soil capacity. We don't guess.
Most installs finish in 1 to 2 days. We can do partial repairs in a single visit.
